Ammonia Remover is a blend of Nitrosomonas. Nitrospira, and Nitrobacter bacteria. The product is designed to work in any pond, lagoon or lake that needs to reduce or eliminate ammonia and nitrite. The product must be used in aerobic environments. Although nitrifying bacteria are ubiquitous throughout the world they are perhaps the most delicate of all the commercially available cultures. The product must be ship in insulated containers and stored a 2-4 degrees c until use. Handling this product is not difficult but it does require proper care. We have been manufacturing and applying this product for over 40 years. There is no short cuts with this product. If it is stored at room temperature it will lose its efficacy in a few short days, no exceptions. Any one or business claiming to have a stabilized nitrifiers at room temperature is being disingenuous. It does not exist, plain and simple. Also, nitrifiers are classified as autotrophic bacteria, which simple means they do not consume carbon as their food source. However, they must have inorganic carbon expressed as alkalinity and will consume it at a rate of 7.14 mg/L per milligram of ammonia nitrified. There is absolutely no way around this.
Also, the nitrification reaction only occurs aerobically. The little cultures will consume 3 mg/l of oxygen to convert 1 mg/L of ammonia to nitrate. Without enough dissolved oxygen, the process will cease to occur, plain and simple.
With our collective 50 plus years of nitrifying experience, we can eliminate this issue in almost all ponds and lagoons.
